Studying youth and media

With my research, I explore how digital media experiences relate to critical developmental tasks, including body image, sexuality, and identity development, as well as mental health. At KU Leuven, I explore with three PhD students the complex relationships between digital media use and youth development through a multidisciplinary lens. With Thi Willems, I am currently investigating adolescents’ pornography use from a positive psychological perspective. With Laure Dedecker, I am inverstigating digital media use of youth with visible differences. With Esmée Mooren, I am exploring the role of digital media in the lives of children with visual impairment. My research ultimiately strives for digital inclusion and strongly
